The University of the Third Age (U3A) is a welcoming and stimulating self-help organisation, operating at local, regional and national levels, for older people – or ‘third-agers’ – who are no longer in full-time employment and who retain an interest in life-long learning and social recreation in the company of like-minded friends. Today, our movement includes over 400,000 U3A members in more than 1,000 U3As and is continuing to grow every day.
A visit to our National Website https://u3a.org.uk will confirm the wealth of resources available from subject advice for group leaders to materials which can be downloaded or ordered, coupled with national events and summer schools.
U3A Tetbury and District is now part of that movement and your steering committee is determined to bring that same ethos to its local members. We are committed to listening to what our members want and to providing it in a flexible manner…every group is likely to be different and yet part of a social network that will meet to hear interesting speakers and to mix socially at monthly meetings.
We also intend to liaise closely with our neighbouring U3As to see how we can help each other and perhaps form teams where appropriate to challenge each other … in activities like Boules/Petanque, Table Tennis, Quiz nights or Mahjong for instance.
